Machinefabriek - Colour Tones

See original artwork here

Machinefabriek’s music combines elements of ambient, modern classical, minimalism, drone and field recordings. His pieces unfold as ‘films without image’, with a sharp ear for detail. Performing live has been an important expression for Rutger Zuydervelt aka Machinefabriek. He took his gear all over the globe, form Canada to Israel and from Russia to Japan. Rutger also works with various film makers, like Chris Teerink, for whom he composed a soundtrack for his documentary about Sol LeWitt.

Colour Tones compiles Rutger Zuydervelt’s music (under his Machinefabriek alias) for the exhibition Colour Tales organised by Lesley Moore at the WM Gallery in Amsterdam last year. The exhibition featured readings of Imants Ziedonis’ short colour themed stories alongside Zuydervelt’s music, along with Moore’s semi-sculptural abstractions. Buy it/Listen to it here.

Currently stationed in London, after a two-year stint in Taipei, this singularly talented Spanish artist’s work circumnavigates the globe, absorbing the myriad sounds of our everyday world and looping them with layers of sax, accordion, piano and voice. Having studied classic saxophone, piano and jazz at conservatories in Barcelona and Zaragoza, he now flips the technique via microphones, software and MIDI controllers, taking his show to concert venues and museums from Spain to Eastern Asia, and releasing albums to great critical acclaim: his latest offering, ‘Eclíptica’, even scored Album of the Year in Spain’s Go Mag.

Silent Servant - Negative Fascinations

See original artwork here

Negative Fascinations is the first official full-length album from Silent Servant. Juan Mendez has achieved international acclaim as a DJ and is one of the founding producers of the infamous and highly-influential Sandwell District label. Long-time followers will feel the effects of a die cast over a decade of precision and dedication to underground minimalist electronic music. Mendez blends his previously-stated interpretations of early post-punk, filtered through the monolithic works of Basic Channel with his own progressively nihilistic vision of industrial music. He utilizes a relentless and uncompromising mastery of hard-as-nails sequencer techno combined with dystopian atmospherics filling the void. Negative Fascination bridges disparate factions on ideological grounds, regardless of sound in the age of mutation. Mastered and cut by Matt Colton at Air Studios, London.
